Wasted Continuum

My work will be bringing me to San Diego this Thursday. I’ll be out there to help one of our clients set up a media manager system that our firm developed. I actually developed the core of the Flash application. It’s basically a network of about twelve Mac Minis. One Mini will be the media server and the rest will be nodes that are hooked up to vertical widescreen LCD’s. It’ll basically allow each node to select a playlist of animations and videos hosted by the Mini server.

My work there will mostly consist of supervising the setup of the network. After that, I think I get to chill out in San Diego. So if there are any San Diego readers or people familiar with the area reading this, please leave a comment if you know any cafes, bars, clubs, restaurants or just cool spots I should check out. I’ll be close to the convention center. I will have most of Thursday to kill.

I’m glad the day is over. I felt so unbelievably unproductive today. Maybe unproductive is not the right word. It feels more like I didn’t move forward at all. There were a few times where I felt like I was moving backwards. I guess that’s not too hard. I broke another record at work today again. I now have twelve projects on my list now. Work was relatively better today. Surprisingly, I did not have a lot of trouble with Internet Explorer while developing my website. Safari was the culprit today. I was getting events misfired at me constantly. If you’re not a programmer, don’t worry about it. It’s probably not that interesting to you. I did however get the portion of the website I wanted to finish today to 95% completion. I decided that was good enough and was able to leave work before midnight, unlike yesterday. I should be able to complete the site by tomorrow if I don’t get distracted. I was interrupted a few time today. We had major issues authoring a Blu-Ray disc that worked with the player we bought. We ended up having to go to Best Buy and purchasing a Blu-Ray/HD DVD combo player and authoring the video onto a HD DVD instead. I’m not sure if Blu-Ray was the format that should of won.

Another long, long, aggravating day at work today. Since I worked until 11:30pm last night, I decided to sleep in a little bit today to hopefully recuperate somewhat. All that rest did not do much. This whole weekend has been about fighting with Internet Explorer to work with my code. There were many times when I felt like I was going backwards. Today, I gave up at 1:30am and I hope I can just rock it tomorrow. Everything is so hard-coded right now, it’s not even funny. There needs to be a lot of work when we make the site dynamic for phase two. I may need to work late again tomorrow night.

It’s been a long day. I basically went to work at 10:45am and didn’t leave work until 11:30pm. I spent most of that time getting IE6 to do things that I easily got Firefox, Safari and IE7 to do relatively quickly. I just hate Internet Explorer. It increases my development time so drastically. Anyway, I have to work again tomorrow. The website I’m working on was supposed to be finalized on Friday and is now pushed to Tuesday. There are a few hurdles left. Hopefully I can resolve the big one tomorrow and not stress out on Monday.

I think the combination of sleep deprivation and overworking is starting to mess me up. I’ve had an headache all week long. Luckily, I had a slightly less stressful day at work today. I spent the bulk of the day building a new WordPress blog for a client. I even learned a few things that I can implement into my own blog. I don’t think I’m working this weekend. Maybe I’ll actually get some sleep. Someone page a doctor if I start moving things with my mind.
