Wasted Continuum

This weekend I went to Chicago with my family for Memorial weekend. It was much like our other trips to the area. A few events stuck out of the norm. We arrived Saturday afternoon. We tried to make a trip to Hot Doug’s to try out some of their famous hotdogs. We got there late and the line was still super long. We decided not to wait. Upon leaving and heading to the hotel, we got a minor car accident. My sister’s car was hit from behind by an 80′s Benz. It was not a good start to the trip.

Tomorrow morning I will be driving out to Chicago. It should be fun, but my weekend will inevitably be a weekend of what could have been. I had big plans to be with my girlfriend for her birthday, but things did not turn out. At one point, we even talked about spending it together in Chicago so I will definitely have that thought floating in my mind. At every meal, I’ll be thinking, “I was going to take Liz here to eat.” When I visit my favorite places, I will be thinking, “I really wanted to show this to Liz.” This weekend I will be on vacation and I will enjoy being with my family, but it will not be the one that I was meant to be on, the one I’ve been waiting so long for. This weekend I will be on the wrong vacation.

I am back from Houston and so glad to be home. I’ve missed my bed. Houston was incredible. I totally had a foodies vacation. 95% of what I did while I was there was eat and the food was amazing. I’ll write about the more in later posts. In the meantime, I uploaded some photos from two weekends ago when I was in San Francisco plus some missing 365 photos. I had limited access to the internet while I was in Houston. I will post photos from my trip throughout the week.

I’m all packed and ready to head out to San Francisco to ring in the new year with my best friend. As I have mentioned before, I won’t be posting anything until I get back. In fact, I don’t think I’m going to bring my laptop. It’s too bulky. If only I had an ultra-mobile laptop. I will still be twittering with my phone and maybe on my friend’s computer. My twitter daily summary posts will still show up automatically.

I’m traveling light this time. I’ll have my tiny 4 gig Nano with me. I just bought a new book to read. It’s Bone in the Throat by Anthony Bourdain. Can’t wait to read it. I already started the prologue and it’s got me sucked in. Since I’m not bringing my laptop, that means I won’t upload any photos either until I get back.
