I’ve had a long week and I really haven’t taken any good photos lately. Today, I decided to take another photowalk on Grand Avenue before dinner. I’ve walked and ran on Grand more times than I can count, but I haven’t really taken many photos.
After dinner and watching WALL-E, I decided to take another photowalk in downtown Saint Paul since I still had my camera with me. I don’t have that many night photos so I thought this was a good time for it.

I submitted this photo to JPG Magazine for issue 18 under the theme “Democracy“. It would be great if you can vote for my photo. If you don’t know how JPG Mag works, it’s basically a photography magazine that’s fueled by all levels of photographers. All photos in the magazines are submissions not commissions. I love JPG. It’s my favorite photography magazine. You should definitely look for it next time you’re in a bookstore. I know Barnes and Noble stocks it.

The first day of summer was beautiful. It was so sunny and hot, but not too hot. I took my camera out for a photowalk. I ended up going to Highland Park in Saint Paul. I wasn’t really inspired by much there. It’s mostly grass and trees. I got a couple cool plant life shots. I think my favorite shot was this spiral ladder at the playground set. I took a photo of it at a downward angle. I think it turned out quite well.

I am once again flying out to California Thursday night. This will be my fourth time there this year. That doesn’t sound right in my head. My best friend, Mai, is showing her some of her work in a fashion show. It’s her first show and I want to be there to support her.
It should be fun. I’m renting a Canon 85mm 1.8 lens from LensProToGo. I’m really excited about that. I’m renting it for two weeks so I will be able to play with it more after I return Sunday night.
You regular readers probably know my drill when I’m out in Cali. I’ll have limited internet access when I’m there so I probably won’t blog while I’m there. I will as always twitter all the time, like I do. Those will be summarized and automatically posted here everyday at midnight. If you want live “coverage” of my trip you can follow me on twitter (JavaJunky)

It was a very gloomy Sunday, but I was determined to make it a good Sunday since I had to work on the last one…all day. My plan was simple. Grab my camera, drive to a park, walk, take photos. That is exactly what I did. I chose Como as my target today. I parked by the conservatory, but I didn’t actually go in there. I did that last time I was there. This time I just walked around. I strolled through Como Town, the amusement park. That is where I met Cocoa the Monkey. He decided to come with me for the rest of my photowalk. I ended up walking for about two hours or so. It was fun. I got a lot of weird looks from people because I had Cocoa the Monkey hanging on my arm and also because I was posing for photos with him.

I took a great photowalk today at Minnehaha Park. It really was more of a photohike. I shot a lot of photos. You can view the whole set here.
