Last night, I was so busy reorganizing my workspace that I almost forgot about dinner. It was late and I wanted to make something quick. I decided to make some chicken legs, but a dish with a little character. I wanted something tangy, spicy and sweet all at once. This is what I came up with. The cooking method is adapted from a Jacques Pepin recipe for Poulet Cuisses Maison, which I love. However, this tastes nothing like that. Here is the recipe for my dish. Try it out and let me know what you think here or on twitter.

Another Thanksgiving dinner has passed. I’m stuffed beyond belief. I cooked for my family as usual. If you have not attempted to cook a large dinner before, I have a few tips for you. These don’t have to be applied to just big holiday dinners. First things first, figure out your menu early. When you’re deciding on your menu, you have to take into account several key factors: total cooking time, equipment restrictions and serving sizes. Continue Reading »

Sometimes you have to go back to the basics. This is one of the first dishes I learned how to cook when I was a child. For some reason, when I cook Chinese dishes, I never measure anything.

My girlfriend, Liz, has a lot in common with me. This obviously is not surprising. I brought this up for a reason. One of the things we have in common often is our random food cravings. Today it resulted into a nice dinner that I would have not likely prepared if not for such randomness. Continue Reading »

So, today after work, I wen to the MN State Fair with my friend, Star. I go every year, some times up to three times. It is only around for the twelve days up to Labor day. It’s one of the biggest state fairs in the US and consequently has a lot of food. Besides people watching, I eat like a mad man when I’m there. This is what I ate this time:
- a corn dog
- half a basket of fries
- teriyaki ostrich on a stick
- pancake on a stick (sausage link dipped in pancake batter, deep fried and on a stick)
- cardamom plum wine ice cream
- Pig Licker (chocolate covered bacon)
- lemonade mixed with drops of rain
- a little pickle dog
- a little pronto pup
- a little chocolate raspberry wine ice cream
I like my fine gourmet foods, my everyday foods, and my disgustingly unhealthy foods. I have a problem and I’m not going to fix it.
PS. I have a 7am flight to Houston on Friday. I’m going to eat a lot there. Oh, and also visit my friend, Linh.
