Black and White Week Project II Complete

Day 7I just finished my second Black and White Week project. I’m happy with the way it turned out. I learned a lot more on how much effect just a single source of light enhances a monochromatic shot. I definitely got more contrast. My first B&W Week project was not complete because I was interrupted by the Art Crawl in the middle of it. I encourage all of you photographers out there to try doing this or a similar project. I guarantee you’ll learn a lot from it.

Hug Your MacBooks

I'll Still Love You Tomorrow I know you all are excited. I am too. Today, Steve Jobs will take the stage at the Apple event and reveal the shiny, new MacBook line. I love Apple, but part of their marketing strategy is exactly what the car industry does. Every year they come out with a cooler looking model. Even though your recently purchased MacBook or iPod is still perfectly fine, it starts to look outdated compared to the new model.

But people, please don’t push aside your current MacBooks and gawk at the new kid in town. Your MacBook has been there for you. Every time you wanted to do some work at a coffeeshop, your MacBook was there. Every time your flight is delayed and you don’t want crack open one of those book things, your MacBook was there. Every time you go to a family function and need to pretend you have important work to avoid talking to your drunk uncle, your MacBook was there.

So please people, when the Jobs is up there showing off the new MacBooks with his cool looking slides and “BOOMS”, I want you to remember the loving laptop that’s been there for you all those time.

I’ve ranted enough. Go now and give your MacBook a hug. Better yet, take a photo of it and post it on Flickr. You can post a link of it on my photo and we’ll have a nice group MacBook hug.

Of course, if you don’t have a MacBook of any kind, you should probably order one of the new ones. I bet you they’ll look super cool and I know that you’ll love it like I love my MacBook Pro.

Break From Blogging

Stance I am taking a short break from blogging. As you may have noticed, I have not written many posts in the last month. For me, blogging takes time. I have been, for one reason or another, very inefficient with my time. I have a lot of small, but significant things in my life that is just sucking up the time out of my days. Continue Reading »

I Met Grammar Girl

GrammarGirl and JavaJunky Today, I met Mignon Fogarty, one of my favorite podcasters. She is more commonly known as Grammar Girl in which she does a podcasts that gives a grammar tip in a fun and informative manner in every episode. I was introduced to her work on Absolute Science, her podcast about science. Being complete nerd when it comes to science, I quickly digested all the past episodes. Sadly, at the time that I started listening to Absolute Science was also when the show was nearing its end. Because I loved that podcast so much I wanted to give Grammar Girl a try too. Not surprisingly, I was hooked on it rather quickly.

flickrViews_20080625.jpg I made wish a few days ago. Not really a wish, but more of a question asking the powers that be if I can’t be famous, can I at least be Flickr famous? Well, I’m still not Flickr famous by any means, but for some odd reason, my daily views spiked like crazy yesterday. I wouldn’t consider my photostream to have high traffic. Before this month, I was averaging around 100-150 views a day. Pretty small numbers. These last two weeks, I’ve been average 300-400 views a day. Yesterday, was really crazy because I got 1,106 views. I only post one photo yesterday. Although it was an awesome photo of me doing the Fishstick, it only had 35 views. I don’t really know what it means or really care that much about it. I just thought it was interesting that on a day where I only posted one photo I get so many views and on some days where I post twenty or so photos I get an average amount.
