Steve Jobs will once again give a keynote tomorrow at WWDC. I’m usually very excited about this, but for some odd reason I’m not this year. Maybe it’s because I already know that the 3G iPhone is going to be the main topic. It’s cool that it is, but I’m still waiting to see the first batch of Android phones. I don’t care if Jobs says “BOOM” a million times. I’m not running out to buy it tomorrow if it’s available. I guess I’ll just watch what happens without any expectations like every other time.

As I’m typing this, Geoff Smith and Cali Lewis announces RingtoneFeeder. It’s a subscription service, $1.99 a month or $19.98 a year, for getting custom ringtones for you iPhone. These are not just any custom ringtones, but they’re original songs by Geoff Smith. It integrates with iTunes. Looks very easy to use. More details here. Go check it out. Geoff Smith is an amazing artist. I almost want to get an iPhone right now.

The Apple Store is currently down. I was just checking out their GarageBand video tutorials and ended up clicking on Store. I have no idea what they may be updating for tomorrow. They didn’t have an update last Tuesday. I think it may have been the first time they didn’t since MacWorld. I hope it’s something cool, not that I have any more money to buy anything from them. Maybe they’ll drop the price on the iPod Touch. That’s the only thing that would interest me. Still not enough for me to buy one right now.

I’ve been really putting off my writing this year. It was even one of my new year resolutions to write more. Well, now that I have my MacBook Pro and a fresh install of JDarkRoom, I have an incredible writing environment. In fact, right now, I’m sitting in one of my favorite coffeehouses with my laptop blogging away with a cup of dirty chai by my side. I’ve got iTunes pumping out some background music. I’ve been here for a good half an hour and I still have enough batteries to last another three hours or so before I have to plug in. I’m loving how portable my Mac is compared to my 17″ Sager. All I need now is to save up some moneys and buy the Crumpler bag for my new laptop. I love Crumpler. I have one for my Rebel XT. I have nothing but good things to say about Crumpler.
To get back to my original point. I’ve been rereading my novel over and I’m ready to dive back into it. I have missed my characters and can’t wait to finish their stories. I know my original goal was to finish it for NaNoWriMo, but I knew going in that I could actually do that. I did have another to actually finish before next November. I am going to try and complete it well before that though. My goal is to finish this novel, still untitled, in a month or two and then go through the editing process. After that, I think I’m going to publish it through LuLu and get a hard copy of it for myself.

Yes. Finally, the day has come. I’ve been without a laptop for one week and it’s been awkward. I don’t like the idea of being planted in one place for computing. Feels too much like I’m working. I’m writing with it right now. I’m actually writing it in the dark. The screen dims and the keyboard lights up automatically. It’s quite awesome. I think this will do wonders for my writing. I spent most of the evening installing my favorite Mac apps. This included Firefox, Spaz, Adium, HandBrake, and iStat Menus. I still have more I need to install. I installed some essential add-ons to Firefox like Better Flickr and Better Gmail.
I’m really liking Leopard so far. The multi-touch track pad is incredible. There are so many little things in Leopard that I’m really enjoying and I will start them as soon as I go to work tomorrow and use the Mac Pro with Tiger on it. I think I’m going to use Mail on here instead of Thunderbird. I’m used to Thunderbird, but I think it’ll be more efficient to use Mail. I’m still getting used to the fact that I have a MacBook Pro right now, so I’ll talk more about it later.

I actually wrote a lengthy post last night about what I’ve been up to the last few days. Apparently, sometime during the beginning of my writing of the post, my database server went down and WordPress was not saving my progress. I was not aware of this. When I finished my post and hit publish, I hit an error page and realized that the database server was not functioning properly. When I hit back, I lost everything, but two sentences that saved before the server went down. Being that this is not a term paper for school that I need to turn in, I’m not going to try to rewrite it. Instead, I’ll give you the short summary. Continue Reading »
