Scrubs Is Back, Still Hilarious

Published by JavaJunky under TV

jdAndTurk.jpg Scrubs returned tonight after the long break due to the writer’s strike. I was happy. It was still funny. Maybe not the funniest ever, possibly because they’re a little off their game, but still great. Scrubs is possibly my favorite show of all time. This is the last season for them, at least on NBC. They only have a few episodes left, but they are supposedly in negotiations with ABC to be picked up for one more season. It will be great to see a full season for it’s finale. It deserves a proper ending. I will be seriously heartbroken if they killed the series finale by cutting it off early. I’ve been watching the show religiously since day one. There is only one other show I did that with. Here’s hoping that ABC closes the deal.

Veronica Joins Revision3

Published by JavaJunky under Podcast, TV, Video

Veronica Belmont has officially joined Revision3. Having recently announcing that she’s leaving Mahalo Daily, she will be co-hosting Tekzilla with Patrick Norton. I guess this is a cool move. I already watch Tekzilla so seeing Veronica on it is a plus. She’s already done several guest co-hosting since Jessica Corbin left the show. I’m going to miss seeing Veronica on Mahalo Daily though. I really liked the feel of those shows a lot. Tekzilla is definitely more traditionally structured like a TV show. I know she says that there’s a lot of talented people working at Mahalo, but I just don’t think it’s the same without Veronica.

Adobe TV

Published by JavaJunky under TV, Video, Website

adobeTv.jpg I just got wind of this. I really don’t know how long it’s been out, but I just found out about Adobe TV today. I think everyone is trying to do the video thing. I’m glad Adobe is. Adobe TV is basically a hub where users of Adobe products can find videos by so-called experts with tips, tutorials and general information about the various Adobe products. I skimmed through the titles. They are some that I would like to check out when I have time.

Hulu: Not Too Shabby

Published by JavaJunky under Movie, TV, Video, Website

hulu_logo.png Hulu is a new video streaming service owned by NBC Universal. It launched earlier this year in March. I really didn’t give it a look since it came out. I think I glanced at the site when it was in beta and I remember it not being very useful. Last week, however, I finally gave it a chance and checked it out. After hearing talk about it on a recent episode of TWIT, I wanted to see if Hulu was just a wasted of space.

For those of you who have not heard or seen Hulu yet, it basically is a video streaming site that provides video clips, full TV shows and movies with limited advertising. I was surprised by how minimal the advertisement was. I was a couple episodes of My Name is Earl and the only commercial I really noticed was the beginning screen where it said the episode was brought to you by HP or something like that. On another night, I watched one of my favorite episodes from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I Only Have Eyes For You. It was awesome. They have the first two seasons of Buffy.

They don’t only have full episodes of older shows. As I mentioned before, they have Earl and other new shows like The Office. They have a decent selection of movies too, a lot of them full-length. The video quality is good. It is at a much higher resolution than YouTube. You should definitely check out Hulu. It is great for catching up on certain shows or movies or even to discover new shows.

No Reservations: Into the Fire

Published by JavaJunky under Cooking, Culinary, TV

Anthony Bourdain: Into the Fire On the Travel Channel, Monday night, March 10th, at 10 p.m. ET/PT, Anthony Bourdain goes back the kitchen of Les Halles. He’s been gone eight years and now he’s coming back to see if he still has what it takes to run his pirate ship. Since leaving Les Halles, the dining area has doubled, the kitchen is still the same size and Tony is not any younger. I’ve been waiting for this episode since he teased it back in November. This is also the season finale of No Reservations. I can’t think of a better scenario to end the season with. I’m so excited to see it. I’ve only seen him cook once on Chef’s Story and a few brief moments throughout No Reservations. It’ll be interesting to see him in a real kitchen doing his thing. This means that I will be completely off the grid tomorrow night while it’s airing. Don’t even bother trying to reach me. You will be ignored.

Bourdain in Singapore

Published by JavaJunky under TV

Anthony Bourdain in Cook Free or Die shirtFinally, there was a new episode of No Reservations tonight and he started out big. Bourdain went to another food mecca, Singapore. It was a great episode with lots and lots of food. The crab looked so good. I think I want to try cooking that. The bone marrow dish looked so amazing too. This is a time when I wish tv sets emit smells. It was a bonus to see Tony wear his Cook Free or Die t-shirt in the beginning and the end of the episode. Can’t wait to see next week, the Berlin episode.

I’m in the middle of reading “Bone in the Throat,” the first novel written by Bourdain. It’s pulling me in pretty quick. It’s very restaurant centric. Shocking. It’s great so far.
