Taste of Minnesota

Published by JavaJunky under Concert, Music, Musician, Photography

Crowd For those of you who have been following my Flickr photostream this week may have noticed the lack of interesting photos. This week has been crazy and I did not have much time or even the energy to take any decent photos. I had a couple hours today to kill so I really wanted to use it to go on a photowalk. Since the Taste of Minnesota was this weekend, I thought that would be the best venue for it.

What Are Your Heart Songs?

Published by JavaJunky under Music, Musician, Personal

Heart Songs So I’ve been a little down lately since my grandfather’s in the hospital. (He’s doing a little better today). After I left work today, I wanted to pick up the new Weezer album hoping to cheer me up. To say that music is a huge part of me is a massive understatement. There is almost always a song in my head or pumping into my ears or in my fingers when I’m holding a guitar or sitting in front of a piano. As I listened to the new Red Album, I got to track four, "Heart Song". It’s about the songs that has that have been there for Rivers Cuomo.

I am a huge fan of Weezer and will be running out to buy it on that day. Amazon has the Pork and Beans single for sale now. I can’t wait to listen to the whole album.

Black Keys Tomorrow Night

Published by JavaJunky under Concert, Music, Musician

Two Tickets To Rock On I haven’t been to a concert in a little while. I guess I don’t go to as many concerts as I used to. Maybe this summer, I’ll start going to smaller shows. I think I miss it. Tomorrow night, I’ll be watching the Black Keys perform at First Avenue. It’s going to be a killer show, I’m sure. The band consists of Dan Auerbach (on vocals and guitar) and Patrick Carney (on drums). Two guys. Two instruments. That’s it. They have a really raw, rock sound. They just released a new album, Attack and Release. I heard a little bit of it. It definitely sounds different than their last album, Magic Potion. Jay Reatard will be opening for them. I haven’t heard of him. I checked out his MySpace profile. Apparently he’s punk. It’s not bad. I think I’d like to see how he is live.
