Here’s a photo I took yesterday before I started my whole cooking process. This year, I’m trying a new recipe. Not that the old recipe sucked — it’s amazing — I just wanted to improve on it. I changed the brine recipe to include a bunch of different herbs and wine. The roasting portion of the recipe is about the same. I added a few slice of citrus fruit in the cavity for a little flavor. I also used homemade herb butter to rub down the turkey. It smells good so far.

I have finished my first official run. It was a blistering 24 degrees this morning. It’s a toasty 25 as I write this. There was an insane amount of runners there. It looked like the State Fair on a good day. Thankfully, I didn’t get run over by any strollers except when I was in the Target Center picking up my number. It took a good 3 to 5 minutes for me to get up to the starting line because of the crowd. It was just as bad at the finish line. I didn’t even get to run through the line. I hit a wall of people. I ended up with a time of 31′33″ which is very slow for me. That is also why I wasn’t even out of breath at the end. I could of ran a 10K. That is what I’m training for next. It was really fun though. There was one moment when I was running in the middle of N 1st Street by Origami that was just unreal. I was running right smack in the middle of this empty pocket of the crowd. Huge snowflakes were coming down and the only sound I can hear were the steps of the hundreds of people around me. I closed my eyes for a moment and it was like listening to a symphony. It was strange and peaceful. I don’t really know what to make of it.

It’s game day and I’m ready for the 5K. It’s 25 degrees outside right now. I had a few hours of sleep, a little more than normal. I had a weird dream that included JD, Turk and Carla from Scrubs in a office supply store. Weird. I ate a muffin bar and a string cheese with a glass of orange juice for breakfast. I think I’m good to go. I’m dedicating this short race to all the people who think they can’t. I hope I make it through without any complications.

The Turkey Day 5K is starting in just eight and a half hours. It’ll be the coldest weather I have ever ran in. I hope I can hold up. My legs are doing great and will not be an issue. I just hope my lungs function properly. It would suck to die and miss out on my turkey which, by the way, is sitting in some delicious, herby brine right now.
I’m going to do some stretches and try to sleep now. I’ll give my report on my race tomorrow. All I hope for is to finish in this weather. I heard that the Turkey day is more about dodging strollers than actual running. It’ll be fun.

I just got an email newsletter from Taylor announcing a solidbody guitar line. I’m not sure what I make of this. Taylor makes some of the most beautiful acoustic guitars I have ever laid my humble hands on. They are absolutely amazing. However, I’ve played their T5 (semi-hollow) line and I was not very impressed by it. I’m a hesitant to give these solidbodies a try. I mean, I will, but I’m hesitant. It looks like they’re using mini-humbuckers on the classic and custom. I think I’d try the standard that’s equipped with humbuckers. As for looks, it’s a Les Paul variants. It looks like they’re flat-tops. I’m not to keen on it. I prefer the look of my Les Paul Junior. If only I can leave work before Guitar Center closes one of these days, I’ll go check one out.

Firefox 3 beta 1 was just released. It doesn’t seem like that long ago when version 2 was release. I’m not sure I’m going to install this beta. Maybe I’ll install it on my Bootcamped Windows XP at work. It does look pretty. There’s a huge list of new features. I just hope it’s faster. Firefox 2 is getting heavy. That may be all my add-ons bogging it down though. You can download the beta here.
