Writing: NaNoWriMo

NaNoWriMo LogoLifehacker just featured an posting on NaNoWriMo. “What the heck is a NaNoWriMo?”, you say. Well, November is National Novel Writing Month and tomorrow is your chance to turn the idea you had kicking around in your head into a best-selling novel.

National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.

What if you’re not a writer? Doesn’t matter. The point of NaNoWriMo is not about quality. The point is to force yourself to write. For me, I think I’m going to do just to see how far I can go. I’ve never attempted a novel before but this a perfect forum for it.

I just downloaded Dark Room for my laptop and will be creating a NaNoWriMo account right after I post this. Stop reading and go write. Actually, don’t cheat. Start writing tomorrow. Make sure you check out the rules of the contest. They are fairly simple.
